The mowing of tall grasses along the Appalachian Trail helps to minimize hiker-tick encounters as well as enhance the Trails beautiful scenery.
Join the Connecticut Chapter of the Appalachian Mountain Club on Saturday, April 27, from 9 a.m to 3 p.m as they mow Bunker Hill. Volunteers can look forward to removing any invasive plant species inhabiting the field, as well as cleaning out and repairing Bluebird houses.
The group will be meeting at the West side of Salisbury Town Hall, Rte. 44 in the Salisbury town center. Be sure to wear sturdy boots, long pants, and work gloves. Also, bring your own lunch, personal snacks, a rain jacket, insect repellent, and plenty of water.
