Wooden shelters along the Appalachian Trail provide all kinds of hikers throughout the Appalachian Trail a nice dry place to sleep.

Join the Berkshire Chapter of the Appalachian Mountain Club on Saturday, July 21 from 9 a.m to 4 p.m as they apply a protective layer of stain to the South Wilcox Shelter. At the end of the work day volunteers are welcome join the Great Barrington A.T. Community Picnic Celebration at 5 p.m in the Beartown State Forest Picnic Area.

The group will be meeting in Beartown State Forest in Monterey, MA. Be sure to wear sturdy boots, long pants, and work gloves. Also, bring your own lunch, personal snacks, a rain jacket, insect repellent, and plenty of water.
