Annual Membership Meeting

There is no cost to attend the meeting in-person or online, and it is open to the public.  However, you must register in advance to enter the secure government facility and attend the meeting in-person.  Photo ID will be required to enter the grounds.

ATC Board of Directors Elections
ATC Board of Directors elections will now occur online.  ATC members will be able to vote in-person on the day of the event, but we encourage all members to vote online. All members in good standing will receive an email with voting instructions in July. Voting will open on July 23 and continue until Noon on August 12, 2018.

Candidate Profiles — Board Nominees

Shalin-Desai(1)Shalin Desai, of Hudson, Massachusetts, is a former operations consultant at McMaster-Carr and former regional market manager at Jetsetter/TripAdvisor specializing in the Latin America and Asia-Pacific regions. Next spring, he will head to law school, specializing in natural resource management.  He graduated from the University of Chicago in 2005, is currently sitting on its alumni board, and was its Young Alumni Service Award recipient in 2016. He completed a thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail in 2015. In addition, he completed thru-hikes of the Long Trail in 2015, the Pacific Crest Trail in 2016, and the Oregon Coast and Continental Divide Trails in 2017. He has been a member of the ATC Board of Directors since 2017.
EdwardGuyotEdward "Ed" Guyot, a principal in a 15-member accounting firm in Keene, New Hampshire, for 23 years and a Board member since 2013, is an avid hiker and outdoor enthusiast. He was a member of the founding board of the Maine Appalachian Trail Land Trust and remains on its advisory board. A graduate of Sawyer Business School (Suffolk University) and Stonehill College, he has also served on the boards of several conservation organizations in New Hampshire. He is nominated to be the Conservancy secretary.
GrantDaviesGrant Davies of Chevy Chase, Maryland, and Charles Town, West Virginia, is an avid hiker and cross-country skier in his native Quebec, is a risk and crisis-management consultant with Accenture, serves on the board of strategic advisors for the Yale School of Nursing, hikes the A.T. in Virginia, West Virginia, and Maryland, and is a graduate of Concordia and McGill universities.
ThomasGreggThomas L. Gregg, of the Washington, D.C., area, was a 2017 thru-hiker known as “Cool Breeze.” He is the president of MacGregor Capital, a private investment company, and one of the owners of the Medium Rare group of restaurants in the Washington area, bringing more than two decades of for-profit and nonprofit board experience to ATC. In the 1990s, he founded 3-G International, the largest American smart-card software company.
JamesLeTorreJames LaTorre of Potomac, Maryland, is a Georgetown University graduate and a partner at the professional-services firm of PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he has spent his entire 38-year career. An avid hiker, mountaineer, and road cyclist, he hopes to thru-hike the A.T. after retirement.

ATC members may submit resolutions for consideration during the annual meeting August 12. Resolutions must be relevant to the corporate affairs of the Appalachian Trail Conservancy.

Members wishing to do so should submit their resolutions to [email protected] before midnight August 10. (Alternately, they may be mailed to reach here by Friday, August 10, to Resolutions, Appalachian Trail Conservancy, P.O. Box 807, Harpers Ferry, WV 25425.) Resolutions should be accompanied by the sponsor’s name, address, ATC membership number, and contact information. Sponsors may be contacted for further information and clarifications.

A Board of Directors committee will review the proposed resolutions on August 11 and present them at the meeting on August 12. Each resolution must be properly moved and seconded before further discussion will proceed.

Resolutions not presented in advance may be brought up from the floor of the membership meeting only if a majority of those present vote to permit consideration.
