The A.T. Community of Abingdon, Virginia invites you to celebrate the area's rich outdoor recreation opportunities at the second annual Virginia Creeper Trail Festival!
This festival features plenty of hands-on activities: Kids' field day games, Yoga in the park, Tree identification along the trail, Scheduled bike rides, Geocaching, Disc dog exhibitions and clinics, Stand-Up Paddle Board demos, Outfitters, Food Trucks and Live Music throughout the day.
Be sure to stop by the ATC & Mount Rogers Appalachian Trail Club tent! We'll have plenty of information about the local A.T., upcoming events, and how to get involved.
Best of all, we're celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the National Trail System Act by setting up a temporary Celebration Trail. Both the A.T. and the Virginia Creeper Trail are part of the National Trail System. Take a short hike through history along this series of interpretive signs, to find out how these two great trails came to be and why we're celebrating in 2018. Then come back to the tent to tell us what you learned for a birthday-themed prize!
The Creeper Fest is from noon to 5 pm on Saturday, April 28. For all the details, visit https://www.vacreeperfest.com/
