Build Long Lasting Structures On The A.T

Stone steps are built to be safe, sturdy and solid. They help prevent soil erosion by slowing the flow of water and harden the Trail where high use and steep grades otherwise leave a gully.

On Saturday, April 21 the Connecticut Chapter of the Appalachian Mountain Club will be leading newcomers and experienced volunteers in the construction of a stone staircase. No prior experience is required, just a willingness to learn and pitch in! Wear sturdy boots, long pants and work glove. Please be sure to bring your own lunch, personal snacks and water.

Meet at the old Railroad Station in West Cornwall, East of the Housatonic near the junction of Rte 7 & 128.
