On Saturday, August 19 at 10 a.m., Appalachian Trail Conservancy (ATC) President & CEO Ron Tipton will be speaking about the impacts the proposed Mountain Valley Pipeline (MVP) would have, such as permanently damaging views on the Appalachian Trail (A.T.) and its surrounding lands, hurting the tourism economies of nearby towns, and degrading the quality of drinking water throughout the region.
The ATC has a history of working collaboratively with energy companies to ensure that the needs of the public are met while preserving the beauty of the Appalachian Mountains and the unique hiking experience the A.T. provides. However, the MVP as proposed will needlessly devastate the Trail on an unprecedented scale.
