MEET MORE OF OUR TEAM
Tom Ottinger, of Ellijay, Georgia, is a former board member of the Georgia Appalachian Trail Club (GATC). He served as the director of community outreach, coordinating a program that provides hiking and other outdoor experiences for about a thousand children and youth per year. He also coordinated GATC's involvement with ATC's Trail to Every Classroom and Appalachian Trail Community programs. He currently serves on the board of Georgia’s Len Foote Hike Inn, a Georgia State Park facility with an education and conservation focus. Tom is a certified chain- and crosscut sawyer and an A.T. section maintainer who also has volunteered on the Konnarock and S.W.E.A.T Trail crews. He is an A.T. section-hiker, having completed about 600 miles of the Trail so far. Tom is the executive director of the Georgia Council of Teachers of Mathematics and has won numerous awards for excellence in teaching math.
