Position: Next Generation Advisory Council Member

Kristin is currently a graduate student at Duke University pursuing a Master of Environmental Management degree with a concentration in Environmental Economics & Policy. She originally hails from the suburbs of Chicago, where she enjoys eating deep-dish pizza, rooting for all the Chicago sports teams, and spending time with her family and dogs. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2014, where she found her true passion for the outdoors studying abroad in Costa Rica and New Zealand. She took a year off before starting grad school, during which she was a Park Guide Intern at Canyonlands National Park in the Island in the Sky district, followed by an internship back home at Friends of the Chicago River. She hopes to continue working for the National Park Service after graduating from Duke, focusing on land management and environmental compliance. She loves hiking, landscape photography, and anything outdoors, and she is thrilled to be on the Appalachian Trail Next Generation Advisory Council and is looking forward to an exciting and productive year!
